Establishing your own E-commerce site is not like it used to be. There are thousands of competitors that are all too willing to do whatever to get a bigger share of the pie. Here’s how to rule the internet and monetize your current traffic so you get the most out of it.

Every idea, every process and every method you can find to augment your sales traffic will end up being very beneficial to you. Your everyday marketing business should have research, trials, and implementation as a major task. Without it, you simply perish. It’s that important.

If it’s not, then you’re not running a business, you’re playing in your hobby. That might be fun. But don’t expect to make any money.

We have got to admit to ourselves, most are in it for the money. True? True!

Does Petco open it’s doors to be your pets’ best friend? Is Borders Books a library? Is Walmart a charity organization? NO!

But big business is badddddd, I don’t want to proffffffitttt, I just want to change the worlddddddd!” Really? Then why are you reading this?

We are not going to waste our time and effort just for the fun of it. Unfortunately, many of you will. Some by accident, some deliberately. And so it goes.

Most E-commerce sites are not willing to wait until hell freezes over just to see their profits.

While there are some who take things lightly there are always those who would rather see profits right now, and on any given day. Guess which category the businesses are in that can keep their doors open, keep the lights on, and pay their employees (including the owners)?

It is common knowledge that without traffic we have no business. Like any business, without customers you don’t get sales.

Traffic represents all the people that get a chance to see what you have to offer. The more people who see your products the more people there would be to buy them. Simple sales funnel math. Traffic and prospects in, customers out the bottom.

Nobody puts up an E-commerce site that doesn’t expect profit. We have startup capital that needs to be regained! Right?!

With consistent traffic, we at least have a fighting chance to achieve that probability. Then monetizing that traffic will optimize your chances for making the most out of each and every visitor. Here’s how:

Making money out of your traffic.

The best and most proven method of making a profit out of your traffic is repeat buyers.

The internet generates hundreds of thousands upon hundred of thousands of raw traffic everyday. Most of them are searching for something. While some are just looking for information there is also a good percentage that is looking for something that they need. That very thing that you offer.

Sales engineers and copy writing masters know that most customers need to see an offer 5 – 7 times before they buy. So what do you have to get your traffic to come back, and see your offer again? How are you capturing your traffic so that you can again show them the benefits of your products?

If you have nothing to keep them coming back, you have wasted you advertising dollars and efforts.

Create a report or a small ebook. Create a landing page or ‘splash’ page that your traffic goes to. Offer the ebook or the report free in exchange for the persons’ name and email address.

When they sign up to receive the information you now have your ‘possible’ customer list that you can safely offer your products to. Just don’t abuse that. “Mr. Fire”, Dr. Joe Vitale advises to send out offers to your list until people start dropping off. At that point you know you’re at the safe sending limit for your particular offers or services.

Making money with ‘other’ traffic.

Other than your website traffic you can generate traffic to send to a specific offer other than yours. This is commonly referred to PPC, or “pay-per-click”. It also relates to other businesses offers, called affiliate marketing.

PPC

With PPC, with every click a visitor of your site makes on an advertised link on your website that then takes them to another site or offer, you will be paid. Just for clicking through.

The more traffic you generate and the more clicks that happens spells more profits. Easy peasy.

You have seen these offers as sidebar ads, banner ads and pop-ups and pop-unders on websites. Super common, because they are super profitable.

You are still showing your website and trying to sell your product. But in addition and as another revenue stream you can generate cash by having other advertising on your site both to click through to and for affiliate offers. Both make substantial money.

Affiliate Programs

Another method of monetizing traffic is affiliate programs. You can link up with other tried and tested sites and online companies and monetize your traffic by having a percentage of sales generated by traffic coming from your site.

E-businesses that do this exclusively use what are called ‘J.V.s’ or Joint Ventures. Build traffic to your site, then look for JV’s to partner with. Warning – if you’re not ready to play with the big boys don’t waste your time. JV Partners are there for the money! Lots of it.

The basic affiliate marketing idea is, traffic generated to your site then sees an ad to another offer. Instead of PPC money – or revenue generated from the person just clicking through to the offer, the visitor clicks on the ad and actually purchases the item.

You then receive a commission from the sale. These can be as high as 50% of the sales price. All from placing an add on your site for a product that you do not carry.

Let’s say you have a travel site. In the sidebar you have offers from Amazon for travel accessories, binoculars, and handy travel clothes. The traffic to your site sees these and make a purchase because they like your site. You have effectively monetized your traffic to your site.

Other affiliate programs can be found on Clickbank. Chose an affiliate program that closely matches your information and tone, and you’re well on your way to profiting from just simple internet traffic.

It’s your traffic, do with it as you wish.

All traffic that you drive to your sites and offers, purchase to send to your offers, or that simply finds you by search engines is your traffic. Your site, your traffic. What you do with that traffic is entirely up to you. You can simply build up your readership, if that is the most important thing to you.

Or you can monetize that traffic and keep your doors open, your internet on, and maybe even have a little jingle in your pocket at the end of the day.
